Ferry is best known as frontman for art-rock group Roxy Music, which influenced punk rock as well as New Wave. Roxy Music first appeared in 1971 and was hugely successful through the decade, with chart-topping albums such as Manifesto, Flesh and Blood and Avalon, until it split up in 1983. The band reformed in 2001 and have toured extensively since. Ferry has always continued a parallel solo career, specialising in cover versions, with albums such as 'These Foolish Things', 1976's'Lets Stick Together' and more recently 2007's 'Dylanesque'.
