ELO was a British rock band, formed in 1970. They released eleven studio albums between 1971 and 1986, and another album in 2001. Formed by Roy Wood and Jeff Lynne of "The Move", from their desire to create pop and rock music with classical leanings, Electric Light Orchestra released their first single "10538 Orchestra" in 1970. Despite their early singles' success in the UK, ELO were initially much more successful in the US than the UK, and it was only in the mid to late 1970s that they achieved the huge success they deserved in the UK. Between 1972 and 1986, ELO managed to achieve 27 top 40 hits in the UK and the US, and they have sold over 50 million albums worldwide.
