Alice Cooper

Pioneer of a theatrical form of heavy metal, Alice Cooper is well known for his live shows with their gothic use of imagery from horror movies and elsewhere using electric chairs, guillotines and fake blood. in 1969 he became notorious for decapitating a chicken live on stage - though in reality he never did this. His first major music hit, selling over a million copies was Schools Out came out in 1972 and was followed through the 80's with successive hits. His career slipped in the 80's but made a comeback with his 1989 album Trash and he has continued to perform and record ever since.
