Tori Amos (born August 22nd, 1963) is an American pianist and singer-songwriter. She was at the forefront of the female singer-songwriter movement that was popular in the early 1990s, but unlike her contemparies such as PJ Harvey and Alanis Morissette, she played a piano instead of guitar as her primary instrument. She is known for her introspective and intense songs that are often autobiographical in content - some of her most successful songs are "Cornflake girl", "Professional Widow", and "Silent All These Years". Tori Amos has sold over 12 million albums worldwide and had chart hits in many different countries. She is known for her eccentric persona.
