Collins was an influential bluesman, well known for his influence on Jimi Hendrix with whom he shared an unorthodox technique and take on the Blues. Other artists he influenced include Gary Moore, John Mayer and Frank Zappa. He also collaborated with Ronnie Wood, B.B King, Eric Clapton as well as George Thorogood and Bo Diddley at the 1985 Live Aid Concert. Born in 1932 Collins was a central part of the Blues Revival of the 1980s, known as the 'Master of the Telecaster' and famous for his 'guitar walks' while performing live. He died in 1992.
