OMD

Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark are a synthpop group from the Wirral, England. OMD was founded by Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys, and they formed the core of the band until 1989, when they split. However Andy McClusky continued to record and tour using the OMD name. OMD's first release on Factory records, "Electricity", announced them as a band to be reckoned with, and their next 3 albums confirmed it. The relative lack of success of their 4th album, the experimental "Dazzle Ships" left the band with a crisis of confidence, which brought about a deliberate move towards the mainstream. American chart success followed, but they soon split. The band then reformed in 2006, and undertook a series of tours in 2007 & 2008. They also have penciled in a new OMD album for 2010.
