Biography: RainbowRainbow were an English rock band formed in 1975 by the former Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. In addition to Ritche Blackmore, the band also comprised of Ronnie James Dio, Mickey Lee Soule, Gary Driscoll, and Craig Gruber.
Rainbow had a frequently changing lineup, due to Ritchie Blackmore's perfectionism, but still managed to become renowned for their powerful live shows.
Rainbow was disbanded in 1984 after Deep Purple made an offer to Ritchie Blackmore to rejoin the band. However, even though the Deep Purple reunion was a success, Ritchie was dissatisfied, and left to form a new Rainbow in 1993. They embarked on a lengthy world tour, and release a new album in 1995. Critics have said that this was possibly the best period of Rainbow; however, Ritchie again disbanded the group in 1997 after turning his attention to medieval music.
Their biggest commercial hit was "Since You've Been Gone".
