These two concerts from the German TV series Rockpalast give a distinct contrast. The first show from 1979 is an intimate concert at the WDR Studio in Cologne in front of a small but appreciative audience. The second performance from 1980 is in the vast surroundings of the Grugahalle in Essen and reflects Joan Armatrading's commercial success in the intervening period and contains several tracks from her classic album "Me Myself I". The DVD gives a fascinating contrast between the earlier low key show and the upbeat, more electric style of the later concert.
