Monty Python's 40th Anniversary

CELEBRATE MONTY PYTHON’S 40th ANNIVERSARY WITH DEFINITIVE PYTHON ANTHOLOGY

Eagle Rock Entertainment are proud to announce the simultaneous release of “Monty Python: Almost The Truth - The Lawyer’s Cut” on DVD [EMDV762] and Blu-ray [ERBRD5041] on 26 October 2009. This release marks the 40th Anniversary of the first episode of Monty Python's Flying Circus being broadcast on the BBC (on October 5th 1969). The legendary British comedy troupe Monty Python will get in front of the camera one last time in this retelling of the entire Python phenomenon from start to finish. The DVD / Blu-ray release will be preceded by a theatrical release and a worldwide TV broadcast.

The Monty Python troupe is John Cleese, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin and Graham Chapman. This release will feature interviews with all of the surviving Python members, along with archive representation for the late Graham Chapman. The Pythons will tell their life story and reveal deeper truths alongside the more tried and tested Python history lessons.

“This is the documentary I always hoped that would be made - something so complete and so faithful to the truth that I don't need to watch it,” said Terry Jones.

This series will study the Pythons up close and through the eyes of their contemporaries and fans: rock stars, comedians, actors, politicians, writers, broadcasters, religious groups, Python-haters and potential axe murderers. Every opinion on Monty Python will be brought to life on-screen for the first time with never-before-seen material. Dozens of featured guest interviews will include Russell Brand, Steve Coogan, Bruce Dickinson, Jimmy Fallon, Lorne Michaels, Jeff Bridges, Eddie Izzard, Olivia Harrison, Steven Merchant, Dan Aykroyd, Tim Roth, Seth Green, and Hugh Hefner among many others.

A Concert By The Lake

On 15 February 2010, Eagle Rock Entertainment release “A Concert By The Lake” on Blu-ray [ERBRD5049]. This charity fundraising concert featured an all-star supergroup which was convened at the historic Wintershall Estate in Surrey in aid of the charity HASTE (Heart And Stroke Trust Endeavour). With Gary Brooker of Procol Harum directing from the piano, a backing band that includes Andy Fairweather Low and Mike Rutherford on guitars, Paul Carrack on keyboards and Henry Spinetti on drums gives virtuoso support to an amazing line-up of star soloists including Eric Clapton, Katie Melua, Roger Taylor, Ringo Starr and The Drifters. Eagle was the first visual music company to embrace High Definition and their commitment to the new technology continues with new additions to their Blu-ray catalogue.

This truly unique all-star line-up perform many of their classic tracks such as “A Whiter Shade Of Pale”, “Over My Shoulder”, “Lay Down Sally”, “The Closest Thing To Crazy”, “I Want To Break Free”, “Under The Boardwalk” and “With A Little Help From My Friends” among many others. The concert has been specially re-edited for Blu-ray release from the original footage and with a new front cover. A royalty from the sales of the Blu-ray goes to HASTE.

Jeff Beck continues to ride high in 2010

Jeff Beck’s legacy of excellence continues, as his Performing This Week…Live at Ronnie Scott’s musical trifecta continues to earn accolades. He was honored with “Best Rock Instrumental Performance” for his moving interpretation of “A Day In The Life” from the Performing CD at the 52nd annual Grammy Awards, where he delivered a tribute to Les Paul with Imelda May on their performance of “How High The Moon.”

New Rolling Stones film

Eagle Rock Entertainment are delighted to announce that they have signed a deal with the Rolling Stones to release two DVDs this year. The Rolling Stones have long been viewed by many as Britain’s most important rock n roll band and these releases, concentrating on some of their finest work laid down in the ’70s, will certainly cement that reputation.

The first of the releases "Stones In Exile" is the story of the making of the classic album "Exile On Main Street", which was released in 1972 as a double LP and is considered by many to be their masterpiece. This title is due to be released in June with substantial bonus material and follows the broadcast of the main show by the BBC in late May, and the reissue of the album at the same time.

The second of the releases is "Ladies And Gentlemen...The Rolling Stones", the legendary Rolling Stones concert film from 1972. Fully restored from the original film, it will be released nationally in cinemas and then receive its first ever authorised DVD release. The title will also be released in high definition on Blu-ray in the Autumn of 2010.

The Rolling Stones line-up featured on both “Stones In Exile” and “Ladies And Gentlemen… The Rolling Stones” is: Mick Jagger – vocals; Keith Richards – guitars; Bill Wyman – bass; Charlie Watts – drums; Mick Taylor – guitars.

This April 23, 2010 in celebration of Roy Orbisons 74th birthday, the Hard Rock Cafe Nashville will host a benefit bash for the wonderful charity Musicians On Call. Barbara Orbison will be joined by family, friends and fans as musicians including Harold Bradley & Mallary Hope, Rodney Crowell, Chris Rodriguez & Eden's Edge, Jeffrey Steele, JD Souther, Sweethearts of the Rodeo, plus Surprise Guests perform songs spanning Roy's 5 decade career. The acclaimed Texan was a pioneer of rock and roll and is one of the very few artists to have been accepted by the world in all forms of popular music. Roy is also one of the exceptional artists to have won Grammys in pop, rock and roll and country categories. Eagle announce Nickelback title

On 12 July 2010, Eagle Rock Entertainment release “Live At Sturgis 2006”
by Nickelback simultaneously on DVD and Blu-ray [EREDV805 and ERBRD5065 respectively]. This title includes the hits “How You Remind Me”, “Too Bad”, “Never Again”, “Someday”, “Photograph”, “Far Away” and more. This is the first time that this title has been available on Blu-ray. Eagle was the first visual music company to embrace High Definition and their commitment to the new technology continues with new additions to their Blu-ray catalogue.

In 2006 Nickelback took to the stage in front of a crowd of 35,000 at Rockin’ The Rally, the music part of the famous Sturgis Bike Rally in South Dakota, as part of their tour in support of the “All The Right Reasons” album. “Live In Sturgis” captures the complete event through the live concert and bonus features showing Nickelback preparing for the show and a look at the motorbike rally itself, the largest in the world.
The concert features all their UK hits up to that time. Also included is the original promo video for “Rockstar” with its host of cameo roles.

Ronnie James Dio sadly passed away

It is with a heavy heart that I must report that a true gentleman in our business has lost his battle with cancer. We at Eagle have worked with and enjoyed the company of Ronnie Dio, one of our industry’s true superstars who took time with every fan and every one of us to show that beyond being the consummate rock star Ronnie was a great guy. He will be missed.

ELP - Pictures at an Exhibition (Ex US)

On 26th July 2010, Eagle Rock Entertainment release the “Pictures At An Exhibition – Special Edition” DVD from Emerson, Lake & Palmer [Cat. No. EREDV793]. The band celebrate their 40th anniversary this year and, in fact, the day before the release of the DVD, they perform live at the High Voltage Festival in London – the first ELP live concert since 1998.

“Pictures At An Exhibition” was filmed at the Lyceum in London in December 1970. A slightly different version was recorded for a live album release in Newcastle in early 1971. The film version was finally released in cinemas in 1973 and has had brief previous releases on VHS and DVD. This new special edition, forty years on from when it was originally filmed, has the most complete version of the film available and is presented in the best possible sound and picture quality, complete with the original seventies psychedelic effects. The band are on fantastic form and their awesome musicianship is instantly apparent.

Jeff Beck Commemorates Les Paul’s 95th Birthday with Special Intimate Performance at the Iridium Jazz Club

“A Celebration of Les Paul,” sponsored by Gibson Guitar, Honors the Iconic Life of Legendary Guitarist and Innovator Les Paul

Beck will pay tribute to his mentor and friend, the late guitar great Les Paul, with an intimate show consisting of Les Paul’s memorable classics along with some rockabilly favorites. Celebrating what would have been Les Paul’s 95th birthday, Beck will be joined on stage by Irish rockabilly sensation The Imelda May Band. Les Paul, known worldwide for his legendary performances and his incomparable innovations that shaped the evolution of music, remained a fixture in the New York music scene, drawing in crowds with regular gigs at the Iridium Jazz Club until the age of 94. Jeff Beck’s appearances will mark the official dedication of the performance space at the Iridium Jazz Club to the late Les Paul.

Roy Orbison: The Last Concert

Instantly recognizable in vocals, songwriting and style, Roy Orbison was a musical pioneer. One of the few artists to have worldwide recognition in all forms of music – pop, rock ‘n’ roll, spoken word, and country – he received Grammys in all categories, as well as a Lifetime Achievement Award. On August 10, Eagle Rock Entertainment will pay homage to Roy Orbison upon the release of The Last Concert CD.

Originally released as a limited run via iTunes in 2008 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of his passing, The Last Concert is now available on CD for the first time. Recorded on December 4, 1988 in Cincinnati, just two days before his sudden death, this was the last time Roy ever performed. This collection of fourteen songs, including seven top ten singles, is the exact order of his show that evening. This includes one of the most loved Rock ‘n Roll songs ever, “Oh, Pretty Woman,” as well as his Grammy-Award Winning “Crying” and “Dream Baby.” This historic performance is untouched by mixing and enhancements – it’s pure, honest, unmistakable Roy.

Following Roy’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, in 1989, Roy became the second singer to ever simultaneously have two posthumous Top 5 albums (King of Hearts, Mystery Girl) on the Billboard charts (the first was Elvis Presley). In addition to his inductions into the Nashville Songwriter’s Hall of Fame and Nashville Walk Of Fame, Orbison was recently honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. In 2008, the Library of Congress added “Oh, Pretty Woman” to the National Recording Registry.

The Last Concert CD is a rarity in these days and times because it is historically correct—it is a trip down memory lane, capturing one of the best rock ‘n roll singers of all time. You don’t really get to know an artist until you go to a live performance, and this particular concert, on December 4th, 1988 was the very last time that Roy Orbison performed. It is an incredible example of Roy’s on-stage presentation, in which he always gave stellar, near-chilling performances. It is a must-have in any record collection.

Ronnie Wood on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon

This Friday, September 24th, be sure to tune in to Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, when Ronnie Wood crashes the party. Joining house band The Roots for a raucous, rousing evening of music, Wood will be playing material from his soon to be released CD I Feel Like Playing (Eagle Rock Entertainment, September 28), and maybe even a few old favorites.

On this collection of twelve new cuts, I Feel Like Playing, Wood’s 7th solo studio album to date, boasts a cavalcade of guests, rounded out by Slash, Flea, Billy F Gibbons, Kris Kristofferson, Bobby Womack, Ian McLagan and others.

Twisted Sister - Live at Wacken

Eagle Rock Entertainment are proud to announce the issue on 18 October (UK) and 25 October (US) 2010 of the DVD+CD Set “Live At Wacken” from Twisted Sister. This release heralds the start of Eagle & Armoury’s reissue of the Twisted Sister catalogue and features the classic 5 piece line-up: Dee Snider (vocals); Jay Jay French (guitars); Eddie Ojeda (guitars); Mark Mendoza (bass); AJ Pero (drums). “Live At Wacken” includes many of their best known tracks such as “You Can’t Stop Rock’n’Roll”, “Stay Hungry”, “Under The Blade”, “The Fire Still Burns”, “I Wanna Rock” and “S.M.F.”

In 2003 the classic Twisted Sister line-up took to the stage at the Wacken Festival in Germany. The band had split acrimoniously in the late eighties after a string of highly successful albums had established them as a band with a unique and instantly recognisable sound and image. Reuniting in the early 2000s, this was the first filmed performance of the newly revitalised band. The DVD combines their full live performance from Wacken intercut with interviews and snippets telling the story of their reunion after so many years of separation. Also included is a CD featuring live tracks from Detroit & Portchester in 1980, London in 1982 and Wacken in 2003.

On 27/28 September 2010, Eagle Rock Entertainment release the next instalment in their “Classic Albums” series. “2112 & Moving Pictures – Classic Albums” will have a simultaneous release on DVD and Blu-ray formats. These releases are fully authorised and approved by the band and filmed in High Definition. This title features cuts from “Tom Sawyer”, “A Passage To Bangkok”, “Red Barchetta”, “2112”, “YYZ”, “Limelight” and more.

The acclaimed “Classic Albums” series is a definitive collection of the stories behind the albums that form the soundtrack to our lives. The latest addition to the series tells the story behind the making of two legendary albums from Rush. “2112” was the album that saw Rush break through to major chart success, going to No.1 in their native Canada and Top 75 in the USA where it would eventually be certified triple platinum. “Moving Pictures” opened them to a mass audience for the first time and remains the biggest selling album of their career. It also went to No.1 in Canada and went quadruple platinum there whilst hitting No.3 in both the UK and USA. Rush members Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart talk us through the making of the albums, together with original producer Terry Brown via interviews, demonstrations, archive videos and use of the original multi-track tapes.

Rolling Stones Deluxe Edition

On 15 November 2010, Eagle Rock Entertainment release the “Ladies & Gentlemen – Deluxe Limited Edition” by The Rolling Stones. Only one single production run of these deluxe sets will be created.

The three DVDs featured in this special release contain respectively, the concert film “Ladies & Gentlemen”, the documentary “Stones In Exile” and a third disc of additional previously unreleased bonus material which is unavailable elsewhere. The DVDs are set in the cover of an 11” square, 40 plus page hardback book of photographs from the 1972 “Exile On Main Street” tour taken by Ethan Russell with additional photographs from the tour by Bob Gruen.

Also included are two unique 35mm film cells from a print of “Ladies & Gentlemen” – hand cut from a single print of the film ensuring two unique cells in every box. We also include a 5ft long black faux silk scarf with the title and Rolling Stones logo in silver glitter based on the original scarf given out at the 1974 cinema premiere of “Ladies & Gentlemen” and a reproduction of the original 1974 film poster for the cinema premiere of “Ladies & Gentlemen”. These items are only available with this release.

Disc One – Ladies & Gentlemen
The legendary concert film “Ladies & Gentlemen…The Rolling Stones” has been fully restored and remastered from the original film print and multitrack audio masters and now finally receives its first authorised release on DVD and Blu-ray. Filmed in Texas in 1972 over four nights of the “Exile On Main Street” US tour, “Ladies & Gentlemen” was premiered at the Ziegfield Theatre in New York on 15th April 1974 and released into selected cinemas across the USA shortly afterwards. It was billed at the time as “…the most powerful rock film ever made” and is considered by many fans to be the finest Rolling Stones performance ever captured on film.

Disc Two – Stones In Exile
In the spring of 1971 the Rolling Stones reluctantly departed the UK to take up residence in France. Keith Richards settled at a villa called Nellcôte in Villefranche-sur-Mer and this became the venue for the recording of much of the band’s classic “Exile On Main Street” album. “Stones In Exile” tells the story in the band’s own words and through extensive archive footage of their time away from England and the creation of this extraordinary double album, which many regard as the Rolling Stones’ finest achievement.

Bonus Features:
Extensive additional footage including interviews with all the band members, interviews with well known “Exile” fans and Mick Jagger and Charlie Watts returning to Olympic Studios and Jagger’s country house Stargroves where a lot of the early work on the album was done.

Disc Three – Additional Bonus Material
Previously unreleased material from the 1972/3 Rolling Stones world tour in support of the classic “Exile On Main Street” album. The disc runs for approximately 40 minutes and contains:
• Footage from the Dick Cavett TV show – features interviews and backstage footage from the concerts at New York’s Madison Square Garden in 1972 which were the culmination of the US tour featured in “Ladies & Gentlemen”.

Dear STRATOVARIUS fans, I am afraid we have some quite terrible news. News of the worst imaginable kind. It's about our friend and drummer Jörg Michael.

Jörg has cancer.

He recently discovered a lump on his neck, went to the doctor, they decided to operate and found what they
call 'a malignant thyroid neoplasm.' They took out his whole thyroid just to have the best chance to get
everything out. He will also have to undergo a regimen of radiotherapy. He is a fighter. We have all talked to
him and it's clear that this guy is not down for the count. He and his team of German doctors are pissed off
and ready to kick ass, and I would not want to be a little cancer cell on these guys' shit list. Believe me.
Jörg and his family (and us guys in the band) found this out only last week, after the operation. Naturally we
are all going between a lot of emotions, sadness, worry, shock, confusion, even anger.

As for STRATOVARIUS, as you perhaps know there is a long tour coming up with Helloween, and with the surgery and therapy that will now follow there is no way Jörg can do the first part of the tour. For me
personally, I at first felt quite hopeless about the tour, because I was so upset about all this news. But Jörg himself has been extremely clear that he does not want the band to cancel a single show because of this. In the end, this is what made at least me feel better about going back to hitting the road next week.

So, we have debated what to do for many days now. Jörg first suggested my brother Anders do this
November - December 2010 leg, but it turns out Anders will unfortunately be busy recording some record or
other with that little indie cellar band of his called HammerFall ;) After a lot of searching we found a guy
that both can do it and didn't have other commitments: Alex Landenburg. He plays well, Jörg says he's a
great guy (very important!) and he started learning the set already before we even had decided what to
do, which to me shows a lot of dedication. You can Google Alex' name if you are curious.

So it turns out that STRATOVARIUS will do the first leg of the Helloween Seven Sinner tour, just as planned, only without Jörg behind the kit, but with Jörg very much as a motivator to us being there. Not one single date will be canceled or changed. Jörg wants to be back on the road with us again as soon as possible depending on the therapy, but we are not making any promises. That one is up to powers even higher than Jörg Michael and his doctors. We will try to keep you somewhat updated.

Anyway, the most important thing is that they think they got all the bad stuff out and that the end result is that we just fix that sentence I wrote above. We will then say: Jörg had cancer. But he beat it. -- Jens

Duff McKagan's Loaded

Eagle Rock Entertainment is proud to announce the signing of Guns ‘N’ Roses/Velvet Revolver founding member Duff McKagan.

The new studio album from Duff McKagan’s Loaded, The Soundtrack, was recorded by Terry Date (Slipknot, Soundgarden) and will be released March 2011. A re-issue of their 2009 CD Sick with bonus DVD will follow in April.

“Eagle seems to get the hard work ethic of Loaded,” states Duff. “I am proud to have such an excited partner as [them].”

Currently available on all digital service providers in the US are two tracks from the upcoming CD: “We Win” and “Fight On.” “We Win” is an anthemic rocker McKagan’s hometown football team the Seattle Seahawks have been playing before their home games. It was also heard during the World Series on the MLB network.

“Fight On” draws inspiration from military veterans, and gives back via proceeds from the song’s downloads, which go exclusively to the Puget Sound Healthcare System veteran administration.

Also on the horizon for the band is the film feature Loaded, a rock ‘n’ roll odyssey in the vein of The Beatles “A Hard Day’s Night” and Led Zeppelin’s “The Song Remains The Same.” Set in the contemporary landscapes of Seattle and the Pacific Northwest, Loaded is a series of “vignettes” which explores the lyrical content of the band’s upcoming studio album, all tied into a cohesive storyline that’s part documentary, part live performance, and all fun.

Jeff Beck Celebrates Les Paul

LOS ANGELES – Jeff Beck paid fitting Tribute to Les Paul last summer, celebrating what would have been the pioneering guitarist’s 95th birthday by playing his friend and mentor’s music, along with classic tunes from the era, in the same Times Square nightclub that Paul played every Monday for 14 years before his death in August 2009.

Sponsored by Gibson Guitar and billed as “A Celebration of Les Paul,” Beck was joined by The Imelda May Band at the Iridium Jazz Club in June 2010. Other guest performers, joining Beck onstage, included Brian Setzer, Gary “U.S.” Bonds, and Trombone Shorty.

“Les was my inspiration,” says Beck. “For years I had always wanted to do something for Les to show him how much I respected and admired what he had done. Les used to play every week at the Iridium Jazz Club in New York City, so for me it was the obvious and fitting place for a ‘Salute’ to him.”

ATCO will be offering a CD of this exclusive show in the US, featuring 20 live tracks from the evening, on February 22nd. This will be available at all retail outlets for $18.98.

Eagle Rock Entertainment will offer the Blu-Ray and DVD of this special one off show, also on February 22nd in the US. In the UK the DVD and Blu-ray will be released on 21st February. They will include seven extra live performances as well as bonus footage and interviews.

Following these releases, Beck will take the “Rock ‘n’ Roll Party” on the road for a short U.S. tour. On January 13, Beck will join an incredible line up of rock legends who will come together to perform at the first Killing Cancer concert – part of a campaign to change the way cancer is treated. Dear All,

this is Joerg speaking after all.

I hope this mail finds everybody well and everybody is in easy beasy Christmas mood already.

The first leg of the European tour with Helloween is over – time to have a few words with you.

First of all lets not forget the brilliant emergency rescue action and playing of Alex, thanx again for all what you did for the fans, the band and also for me.

Surely I hate the idea of somebdy is sitting on "my chair" but this special action needed some special treatment and I am proud and happy that it was you Alex. Thanx again, we see around for a real drink, not like these other Scandinavian pussies in the band:-)))

I was overwhelmed by all the wishes, tons of emails and text messages I received from all over the world wishing me a speedy recovery.

Thank you so much for supporting me and it made me feel very strong fighting this bastards inside of me.

I have some good news to tell you and believe me - I really enjoy to tell the world:

The surgery was done about 6 weeks ago and the first therapy is done as well.

All looks good so far and as Jens told me before:

"Do not worry Jörg, what should survive in your body after all what you did to him!"

Finally he was right, there are only small bits and bobs left - I will fight those with another therapy in about 4 month time.

I think I have been very lucky that it was discovered by one of my friends in a very early state.

Very good that my friend decided to become a doctor, he was very lousy when he tried playing the guitar.

Besides I am preparing myself for Christmas, I am currently practicing the drums to be ready and kickin again when the tour continues in the new year.

I will be back, thanx again for everything and lets get alive and kicking once again, see you in Paris and everywhere else......

THE GUITARS
French commissioned the custom shops of the world's top guitar electric makers to replicate the color and style of his pink sunburst Gibson Les Paul. To anyone even remotely involved with this industry, this dream would seem completely unrealistic as all these companies are highly competitive and many have even sued each other over the slightest attempt at copying anything that the other was doing.

“It really meant that I was asking Fender, Paul Reed Smith, Epiphone, Gretsch, and Martin to put aside their differences for something for the greater good,” says French.

THE AMPS

Through several contacts and years, Jay Jay finally got to the president of Kayline Industries, the maker of most of the tolex that you see covering most every amplifier. The guy, Harley Hoffman, was “one of the nicest people you could ever talk to.”

Hoffman personally contacted Fender, Marshall, Vox, Mesa, Orange, Hartke and Diamond on behalf of the Project. He had made a small amount of tolex for a project for Marshall that did not develop. It was magenta in colour and Hoffman thought it would be perfect for the Pinkburst Project. Turns out, there was just enough to cover the amp collection.

Because no guitar and amp collection is complete without the accessories, TKL made custom guitar cases, Red Monkey made custom Straps, IN Tune made custom picks.

WHY
The purpose of the Pinkburst Project is to bring awareness and to help fund research for a cure of a disease called Uveitis. Uveitis is an inflammatory eye disease.

Uveitis is the third leading cause of preventable blindness in the USA, and the leading cause of blindness of American girls. Jay Jay’s daughter, Samantha was found to have it at age six when a routine eye exam at school detected the possibility of something not so routine.

Samantha's sight has been preserved through a cocktail of topical and systemic medications that her physician, Dr. Stephen Foster and his associated doctors at MERSI (Massachusetts Eye Research and Surgery Institution) in Cambridge, Massachusetts have carefully administered. It is Dr. Foster and his Foundation that will reap the benefit of this auction.

Dr. Foster states, “I am extremely grateful to Jay Jay for bringing the much needed attention to Uveitis and the work of the Ocular Immunology and Uveitis Foundation. Ocular Immunology is not a particularly glamorous field, and few ophthalmologists choose to enter it. As a result, few ocular immunologists exist, and so many patients with uveitis and other forms of eye inflammation continue to be treated with 1950’s standard of care while much more effective and safer strategies exist today. The result is that far more people are eventually blinded by eye inflammation than should occur.”

Samantha has been on five different cycles of chemo drugs over the last 10 years. All are toxic and have to be monitored constantly to look for liver damage. One of the drugs, Remicade, which costs up to thousands of dollars per dose and has to be administered intravenously over many hours, every four to 12 weeks for a minimum of two years. This past year, Samantha was put on a new drug, Humira that is injected every two weeks by a doctor just above the hip. So far, she has reacted very well to this and her eyes are 'clear' of any inflammation. If she stays clear, she will be weaned off it in August 2012 and at that time, we will know if her body has become able to fight off the inflammation of her eyes on its own as all 'normal' immune systems do. Thanks to early detection and treatment, Samantha stands a good chance of maintaining her normal sight for the rest of her life.

Gary Moore 1952 - 2011

Eagle Rock Entertainment have been deeply saddened by the news of the death of Gary Moore, the consummate musician acknowledged as one of the finest guitarists that the British Isles has ever produced. In a career that dates back to the 1960s, there are few musical genres that he has not turned his adroit musical hand to, and on top of his acclaimed solo work he has graced the line-ups of several notable rock bands, Thin Lizzy, Colosseum II and Skid Row to name but three.

Eagle Rock Entertainment were privileged to work with Gary Moore and his team on many projects over the past few years – releasing his three most recent studio albums, a live box set album, three DVDs and a Blu-ray. It was a relationship that began in 2004 and was cherished by all those at the label.

Eagle Rock Wins Grammy Award

On February 13th, at the 53rd annual Grammy Awards, Eagle Rock Entertainment was bestowed the Grammy award for “Best Long Form Video” for When You’re Strange: A Film About The Doors.

Produced by Wolf Films/Strange Pictures, in association with Rhino Entertainment, When You’re Strange was directed by award-winning writer/director Tom DiCillo, and narrated by Johnny Depp. This first ever feature documentary about The Doors was released by Eagle Rock Entertainment on June 29, 2010 on DVD and Blu-ray, after it’s initial theatrical release. An incredible account of the band’s history, from their 1966 inception to Jim Morrison’s passing in 1971, this film has been featured at several film festivals, including Sundance, Deauville, San Sebastian, and Berlin.

Following last year’s “Best Rock Instrumental Performance” award for his moving version of The Beatles “A Day In The Life,’ from Eagle Rock Entertainment’s 'Performing This Week…Live At Ronnie Scotts’ CD, Jeff Beck also won two Grammys for “Best Pop Instrumental Performance” for “Nessun Dorma,” and “Best Rock Instrumental Performance,” for “Hammerhead,” from his 2010 album Emotion & Commotion (Rhino). Eagle Rock will release his new DVD, Rock ‘N’ Roll Party Honoring Les Paul, on February 22.

Rory Gallagher - Irish Tour

Eagle Rock Entertainment are proud to announce the simultaneous release on DVD and Blu-ray on 11 April 2011 of the “Irish Tour 1974” film of Rory Gallagher. This represents the first time that Rory Gallagher’s music has been available on the Blu-ray format.

In 1974, award winning film maker Tony Palmer followed Rory Gallagher and his band on their tour of Ireland. The subsequent movie was released in cinemas to great critical acclaim and has gone on to be accepted as one of the great rock films. Now for the first time the film has been lovingly restored and remastered from the original footage and is being reissued on DVD and released for the first time on Blu-ray. There is a massive improvement in both sound and picture quality over the original DVD release and finally Gallagher fans can get to see the film as it was meant to be, capturing Rory, his music, the period and the place to perfection.
